A Changed Environment, Messums West, Tisbury, UK, 2026
The paintings in this series extend Lihong Bai's ongoing inquiry into landscape as unstable terrain. Working with ink, rock colour, and Xuan paper, she deconstructs the classical conventions of ShanShui 山水 - dissolving the boundary between mountain and void, stillness and rupture. Each work is a site of negotiation: between tradition and displacement, between what a landscape holds and what it refuses to contain.
